A street play was held in the city of Ahmedabad at various locations on this issue of Say NO to Plastic Carry bags basically to make people aware about the issues pertaining to Plastic Carry Bags.
As you may know, Centre for Environment Education (CEE) is a national institution engaged in developing programmes and material to increase awareness about the environment and sustainable development. CEE was established in 1984 as a Centre of Excellence in Environmental Education, supported by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Government of India. It is affiliated to the Nehru Foundation for Development.
To create awareness on the impacts of usage of plastic carry bags and emphasize on the need to shift to alternatives, Centre for Environment Education (CEE) through its South Asia Youth Environment Network (SAYEN) Secretariat has launched the campaign on “SAY NO TO PLASTIC CARRY BAGS” in Ahmedabad, starting from April 22, 2009.
As a part of the campaign, the youth plan to interact with community members in Memnagar, Bodakdev and Vastrapur Area to conduct surveys, create awareness on the harmful effects of plastic carry bags and identify individuals & groups interested to work for the campaign. Activities such as one-minute games, signature campaign and exhibitions, street plays, rallies will be conducted by the youth in the city.
